When you go on a normal first date you will answer the basic getting to know you questions. Where did you grow up? 
How many kids are in your family? What do you do for work? You know the questions. You have asked them and answered them, many times. However, when dating online, you might want to wait to ask these questions until you are sure you are ready to give out this information. You can never be too careful. And the worst possible thing would be to give out information to someone who ended up using you for your information. This does not mean everyone is bad, just that you need to be smart.
